Important Links:

  • We have been assured by public health officials that school closures are unwarranted at this time and could create unintended consequences that would hurt their efforts to protect our community.
  • Our focus continues to be on prevention and preparation.
    • If you are experiencing a fever of more than 100.4 (degrees), please stay home and contact your principal. Staff should stay home and contact your supervisor.
    • If you or anyone has been tested for coronavirus, please stay home and contact your principal. Staff should stay home and contact your supervisor.

Prevention: Stay Home if you are Sick
As part of preventative measures recommended by the county and state public health departments, we are asking you, our students, and their families to stay home if you are sick, especially if it includes a fever and/or coughing. Be sure to:

  • Remain at home until your fever has been gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
  • Seek immediate medical care by calling your physician if symptoms become more severe, such as with a high fever or if you have difficulty breathing.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, coughing, and/or shortness of breath) and may have had contact with a person with COVID-19 or recently traveled to countries with apparent community spread, call your healthcare provider or local public health department first before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.

Prevention: After Travel Health Precautions From High-Risk Countries
To slow the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) into the United States, CDC is working with state and local public health partners to implement after-travel health precautions. Depending on your travel history, you will be asked to stay home for a period of 14 days from the time you left an area with widespread or ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice).

Prevention: How to Stay Healthy and Prevent the Spread of Virus
Please follow these common sense approaches to protect yourself from the virus:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.

Prevention and Preparation: Additional Cleaning of Surfaces in Schools

  • Our staff has received instruction on cleaning and disinfecting classrooms. They are disinfecting all classrooms daily with an added emphasis on all high-touch surfaces (door handles, guard railings, keyboards, phones, etc.).

Preparation:

  • NEWCorp is continuing to monitor the situation closely and developing plans should the need to close schools arise. Such a directive would be done in coordination with the district’s county health agencies and district’s departments of education.
  • Questions should be directed to your principal or supervisor, and can also be sent to joy.baldree@new-corp.org.
